All Thing Bright and Beautiful

The sun has stayed out almost all week, the temperatures haven't dropped below 40 during the day, and we're all loving life in our beautiful Ohio as the grass turns green, flowers begin to bloom, and trees begin to bud.

David:  He loves singing along with songs on the radio, and will sing Happy Birthday and Let It Go as he goes about his daily play.  He enjoys playing trains with his big brother and will sit on the floor and look through the same Thomas book over and over without ever getting bored.  He loves his family and was becoming a bit of a basket case waiting for Granny to come home after church yesterday (we accidentally beat her to her house yesterday for dinner). He would wait by her huge window looking for people and cry if anyone passed by without coming up to see him thinking they were all Granny.  Silly boy.

Caleb:  He's starting to identify letters and he always surprises me with the ones he knows.  He can identify L, M, O, Q, W, and a couple others, but can't remember A, B, C, or D, which I think drives Byron a little crazy since they're all the letters our names start with.

He loves wearing the super hero cape his Granny made him, but won't leave the house without his firefighter raincoat and hat.  All of the old men and women who work at the Y love him to death and stop and talk to him every morning.  Which he loves.  He tells everyone his name and then introduces David.

His favorite clothing item in the world though is sweatpants.  If I try to put jeans on him I have to come up with a really good bribe and stick some kind of small candy or toy in his pockets.  Little booger.

He's doing a great job learning the new verses to Follow the Prophet they're teaching in sharing time, and was singing himself to sleep with the chorus the other day for nap time, but I think my favorite thing about him right now is his love for the boy scouts.

Every week he begs to go to the scout meeting with Daddy, and last Saturday, when they met at our house for the canned food drive, we had donuts and juice, so all week he's been asking for his "scout meeting cups" (the blue disposable cups I had put out for the scouts) and his uniform (he used to have a onesie with the scouting logo on it that said "Future Boy Scout") which he still remembers, but no longer fits into.

Byron:  Things have been pretty much the same for him.  He developed a toothache a couple weeks ago and had to go to the dentist this week, where they delivered the news that he was going to need a root canal, and the booger scheduled it for the week before my brothers wedding.  I keep debating about asking him to change it, or just leave it be.  I have no idea how it will affect the pain in his tooth since they won't have had the opportunity to put the crown on yet, but we shall see.  Friday night he went for the boy scout campout but came home joking that they had ordained Garrison, one of his scouts, to the office of Elder (the boy isn't even 14 yet) since he was the only scout that came so they could make it and Elders Quorum camp out and they were all wishing they had a bow and arrows or some kind of firearm with them to play with. Silly men.

Arielle:  I got to help my mom with the paperwork for preschool pictures this past week and had a ton of fun doing it.  I love seeing all the kids year after year and how much they grow.  And the babies they bring in are always so cute, even if they don't particularly care to have their pictures taken.  My dad was kind enough to watch my boys for me, and even brought them to the preschool Wednesday after Charlie got out of school so we could get Easter pictures of them as well.

In General:
Monday was my 12 week appointment with the OB-GYN and we knew we were going to get to hear the baby's heart beat so we took Caleb and David with us.  Caleb thought it was pretty cool, David was pretty clueless, but Byron was happy he could come and managed to keep the boys calm during the appointment. It's nice to know everything is going well, but I'm still counting down the weeks until Mid-May when we'll have our ultrasound. I'm 98% certain we'll have another boy on our hands at the end of September and just keep laughing at how much louder my house will be getting as he grows into the rowdy, life loving boy his brothers are.

Wednesday afternoon I got to go visit my cousin Katrina in the hospital.  She had a her 3rd child that morning (a second little girl) and she looked radiant, as always.  Her kids are so dang cute and loved their new baby sister, and Caleb and David both had fun looking at the brand new baby. The room was a little full since we just happened to get there minutes before her children, husband, sister, and parents came, but it was fun all the same and I was happy we got to be there.

Saturday morning I took the boys out to Byron's campsite since Caleb had been wanting to go so badly the night before, but it was much chillier than we had hoped so Caleb didn't enjoy it as much as we thought he would.  We had planned on staying in Englewood and going to Aullwood or the Englewood Dam to fly kites, but since I had forgotten the diaper bag in trying to help Caleb find his coat and shoes, David didn't have his shoes, and we ended up just coming home so Byron could get a shower.  He always feels bad coming home smelling like campfire.

I think that's all the news I have to share this week.  The coming weeks I'll have plenty more to tell you, so stay tuned, but for now, I'll close with the hope and prayers that all of you are finding joy and happiness in your lives.
