Springing Forward

So you all can see how well I've been doing with my resolution of writing a blog every week...but alas, I finally have a couple of pictures and some cute stuff I feel like writing about, so here it is! The second entry for the year 2015!

Caleb:  He has grown so much.  He is very verbal, loves planes and trains and anything that goes, and even told me he wanted to be in the air force so he could fly a helicopter (I'm not sure he knows what the Air Force is yet, but he's determined)He gets along with David really well, even though he would rather wrestle than snuggle.  He's enjoying sunbeams, loves playing outside, snow, rain, or shine, and was really excited to finally get to go on his trampoline again this week after being banned from it all winter.  He is now old enough that he can participate in the learning programs our area metro parks offer, so Friday morning we headed out with my parents and Charlie to see the "Signs of Spring."  They got to roll over logs to look for bugs, listen for birds, toss a couple of leftover ice chunks in the pond and enjoy being out in nature.  It was a lot of fun and Caleb had a great time.

David: He is also beginning to be quite verbal, he loves learning new words, and using the ones he already knows.  He climbs all over the table at meal times, which drives me a little bit crazy, and loves to snuggle.  He also LOVES dogs, and I'm so grateful there are plenty out walking in the neighborhood for him to enjoy petting right now.  Yesterday we went to my friends house for a Pi Day celebration and her live-in neighbors have a black lab and huge German shepherd (the fancy kind that was bred in Europe then shipped over here when they bought him) that David couldn't get enough of.  Everyone was impressed by his fearless approach of the German shepherd (who is probably as tall as David at his lowest point) and I was so grateful that this bear of a dog liked David too. :)

Byron:  He's loving the warmer weather on his bike rides and that the sidewalks are finally clear of snow and ice.  He had to replace the inner tube on the front tire after coming out and finding it completely flat after work one day, but I'm glad he was able to do it on his own instead of having to leave the bike at Dick's since their service person doesn't seem to be in the store as often as we would like.  He loves playing outside with the boys in the evening when he gets home, and has been especially sweet to me this week and lowered his dinner expectations exponentially after I broke the lower heating element in our stove on Monday.

Arielle: I haven't had anything super out of the ordinary going on.  I'm keeping busy with playgroup and still trying to make it to the Y.  Next week and the week after I am helping my mom with her preschool pictures, and in 2 weeks I'll be throwing Alyssa's graduation party.  I'm still the sunbeam teacher in our ward, and am enoying watching Caleb learn follow the prophet and request songs from singing time during family home evening, even if Byron doesn't know the words. :)

In General:  This week we've had a lot of fun.
Monday night was a pot luck birthday party for a sister in our ward who turned 90.  She is such a joy to be around and I am amazed by all of the experiences she shares when you have the time to sit and talk with her.

Wednesday there was a youth temple trip so instead of Byron having to head off for a scout meeting, we got to grill hotdogs and take the boys for a walk.  The weather was gorgeous and I loved spending time outside with my family.

Friday Byron and I got Gabrielle to babysit for us and went out on a date.  We went to Fetch. the puppy store in the mall and played with a sweet miniature schnauzer (that I would have taken home in a second if she her price tag wasn't so high.  I can't believe what people pay for dogs these days!) We also got the innertube Byron needed for his bike and got some delicious fudge in the mall before going to Lowe's to try to replace our heating element.  They didn't have what we needed but were ablt to tell us where we should be able to find it, so I guess I'll be hunting that down tomorrow.

Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the beautiful signs of Spring!

Caleb fell asleep for yet another nap on the couch one weekend when he was sick

Impromptu donut date when we had a pipe burst.  Byron was staying home until the plumber could come so I took the boys out for a breakfast treat.

Our neighbor is training to be a firefighter so he let Caleb try on his hat Saturday afternoon

Byron with the miniature schnauzer we played with Friday night.

Reading scriptures with Caleb before sending him off to bed tonight.  He's getting more interested in them the more often we do this.  He discovered the pictures in the front of his Book of Mormon recently and loves looking through them and telling us who is everyone is. Then asking where the other people are that he knows (i.e. Captain Moroni and Helaman)
