Ezekiel: He had his 2 month check up earlier this month. He weighed 15 lbs 10 oz and was healthy on all counts He is wearing 3-6 month clothes and will be 3 months old this coming Tuesday.
His smiles are the cutest thing around and I love when I find time to just sit and hold him so I can see it slowly spread across his face again and again. He loves bath time, and snuggles, and still sucks on his fingers. It's hilarious to me watching him try to get his thumb away from the rest of his hand while it's balled into a tiny fist, and Caleb thinks the tiny spit bubbles he blows (in great quantities) are spit up, and is constantly trying to wipe them away from his mouth.
David: I can't believe just how much he can talk. He says some of the darndest things, has an active imagination that he puts to great use, and loves to play with his big brother. He knows all kinds of dinosaur names and can count to 10, and will say numbers after that, but often gets them mixed up.
I love his laughter and how he cuddles on Ezekiel when he think someone has wronged him in some way.
Caleb: He turned 4 on Friday! He's getting so big and is so funny. The past couple of weeks felt a little rough. He was yelling at me and Byron, and his grandparents, and my friends, every time he didn't get things the way he wanted them. He was talking back a lot, and throwing lots of fits, but this week has been a little more pleasant, and I'm hoping he continues to be more respectful.
For his birthday we made him breakfast in bed, then took Byron to work a little late. We headed to target to replace a pair of his sweatpants that he had worn holes into, and he picked out a new Captain America hoodie that he's pretty excited about. He's been wearing it non-stop. For lunch we met Granny, Grandad and Uncle Charlie at Chick fil a where he ate a whole bowl of soup (he is his father's son) and his chicken nuggets. Then we headed off to the YMCA and went swimming. Caleb got to wear a puddle jumper for the first time and was doing awesome. He was moving all over the pool on his own and I was so proud of him! He had a great time playing and was so excited afterwards when he got to go home with Granny and Grandad!
Byron left work a little early and brought Caleb home for pineapple pizza and cake! I had agreed to watch a friend's children while she and her husband went to the temple that night, so I guess he even got a mini party, but I was selfish this year and wanted to keep him to myself as much as possible.
Byron: He's loving work, and is happy that the weather has stayed relatively warm so he hasn't had to deal with any ice or snow on his daily commutes.
His work Christmas party was 2 weeks ago and we had a good time chatting with his co-workers and eating yummy food. They got their dessert trays from Dorothy Lane Market and sent each employee home with a box of Esther Price chocolate, which Byron kindly shared with me, so we felt pretty spoiled.
Arielle: I feel so blessed every single day. I have 3 strong and healthy children, a handsome husband that works hard and serves at every given opportunity, and family close by that loves to spend time together. I kept my head on straight this year so this month has been a lot less stressful than it was last year when I tried to squeeze in a lot of extras, I'm making it to the y at least 2 or 3 times a week and finally gave in and started going to a TRX class my friend teaches. It's a circuit training class with both strength and cardio exercises, and the first time I went I over did it and couldn't walk for 3 days. I now recognize my limits, and am able to get a good workout without hurting myself.
I had the opportunity to take dinner to a friend on Thursday. Her 7 month old little boy has kidney problems and they had been in the hospital for almost 8 hours straight that day for testing to see how he was doing. When I realized I happened to have enough on hand to make dinner for 2 families that night, I felt really blessed and managed to squeeze it in on top of preparing for activity days that night.
I've gotten to know the sister missionaries in our ward pretty well, and have even gotten to go out with them a couple of times (this is a first for me). I've had some amazing experiences, and am so grateful for the Holy Ghost and the promptings and revelation we receive when we are willing to listen.
In General: This past Monday we dropped off Christmas goody plates to various friends in the area. Byron helped me make buckeyes and Caleb helped me make some double chocolate pomegranate cookies. I added some fun pretzel treats to the plates and we were ready to go. We were able to give plates to 11 families in a 2 hour period (thank goodness David and Ezekiel fell asleep pretty early on, they had gotten a little cranky) and Caleb was more than happy to hop out and help deliver each plate.
I was having a hard time getting Caleb to understand the importance of Christs birth, so we decided to tell Caleb that Santa wasn't real. It has provided us with a lot of opportunities to talk about the birth of Jesus Christ and the reasons why we celebrate Christmas, and has also given us some laughs.
David runs around the house yelling "Santa's not real!" I don't think he knows what it means, but he knows it makes us laugh, so it keeps happening, and when our bishop dressed up as Santa and handed out candy canes at the ward party, Caleb excitedly ran up to me, candy cane in hand, and exclaimed "I said Thank you to the not real Santa!"
