This week I got what is probably the worst burn I remember having had since I was about 10, so, note to self - sunblock is totally worth it...never go without. :)
Memorial Day: Monday was Memorial Day and my sister-in-law Melissa came into town for a quick visit. She got it Sunday evening and we had fun skyping with some family before heading to bed. Monday we dragged her to
two ward picnics, Miamisburg's Breakfast in the morning, and Centerville's lunch picnic right afterward. (I think) She had fun following Caleb around playgrounds and pushing him on swings, and I loved having her energetic self there to do so since Byron kept finding adults to play with. :) She headed back home around 3 and Byron and I used the time to give Caleb a nap and relax a bit before heading to a graduation party that evening. It was a combined party for 5 young men that were graduating from Centerville High School this year from Miamisburg and Centerville Wards. There were tons of people to talk to, Byron found a volleyball game to join in on, and Caleb enjoyed the "ball pit" they had set up in the back yard (a blow up baby pool filled with plastic balls that you would use in a ball pit). Overall it was a great day, and having Byron home for a 3 day weekend always makes the rest of the week go by so much faster. :)
Caleb: He got some sun, spent time with his Aunt Melissa, got to go to the pool, and has started using words to communicate when he's stuck, when he wants out, and is going through the same phase his 2nd cousin, Westley, went through when he will say "down" when he wants to get down
or up. He gives the sweetest hugs and kisses and has been a total ham the past couple of days giving out his flirtiest smiles when he's happy.
Byron: We got his bicycle back this week and he's been enjoying his rides to work. They wrapped up all the documentation he's been working on for the tutorials they had coming out, and things are slowing back down to their normal pace. He continues to get up a half hour earlier every morning to get some excersize before work and is finding out how to do all kinds of different things trying out new routines to see what he likes best.
Arielle: This week I got to spend time with my Aunt Liz again (finally hahaha) She came over with her two boys Wednesday afternoon and it was so nice. We had an easy lunch and she helped me go through all the baby clothes I had to sort through and put them away in David's room. After school got out I picked up my brother Chandler (it was his last day and he had joined a bunch of friends in walking to Coldstone Creamery after school) before heading out to pick up Byron. Friday I got to go up to Englewood and spend time with my cousin Katrina at the splash pad. When we were done playing we went across the street for some frozen custard, and it was so nice to have that time to talk and catch up. That evening I went to a bridal shower for my best friend from my days in the YSA branch. It was more of her last "single girls night out" (even though half of us were married) and we went out for pizza and ice cream.
In General: Overall we've had a pretty busy week. We picked up Byron's bicycle Tuesday evening and ran a couple other errands to help prepare my sister and dad for the 3 day back packing trip they left for Thursday morning. Wednesday night we hit the pool and it was a blast. We met up with my parents and siblings there and it was nice spending time talking to my mom and watching Caleb and Charlie play together in the water. Charlie is convinced he knows how to swim already and keeps going into deeper water than he can handle, but he loves it just the same and grins his face off. Caleb's old enough to go down the baby slides and play in the fountains all by himself. He's fallen into the water a couple times but when he comes up he's never choking on water so at least he knows how to hold his breath :), and Byron went with my Dad and Chandler to use the water slides a couple times. Caleb and I went to the pool again Thursday afternoon to meet up with my Mom (have I mentioned how much I love spending time with her?) and I got some serious sun, but it was well worth it and at least I learned the true need for sunblock early on in the summer. haha. Friday afternoon we were going to go again but it started storming like crazy so we spent time at my mom's house instead. At one point I needed my car keys (I knew I would be getting a text from Byron about getting a ride home and I had left the phone in the car) but we couldn't find them anywhere. Eventually Chandler thought to ask Charlie to go get them. He crawled right over to the subwoofer hooked up to my parents TV and pulled them out of it. Little stinker. Yesterday was my friends wedding and it was beautiful. He is a convert, so they haven't been sealed in the temple yet, but she said they're headed there as soon as possible. She was beautiful and radiantly happy and it just makes me so happy to see these wonderful changes happening for her. Today we got to go visit my cousin in the hospital, she just had her baby yesterday and she's so small and perfect. She has the long graceful fingers of a pianist and a sweet little smile she showed off for her Grandpa (Papa?) Mills
David: He's constantly moving. I can see my belly jump as he kicks around and it's weird to feel him add somersaults to his kick boxing routine. I get excited thinking about how big he's getting and look forward to the end of the summer when I'll get to look down in his sweet face and know that he's part of Heavenly Father's miraculous plan. I told Byron the other day I'd really like him to have dark hair, but I'm thinking it will probably be blonde, just like Caleb's since Byron and I were both blonde babies, and I realized that next time we have a Lane family reunion we'll be able to get a picture of him with his Uncle David and his Great-Uncle David. I'm kind of excited about that one. haha
