Caleb: Thursday evening he successfully went to bed in his big boy bed for the first time! We laid him down and he cried for about 20 minutes, but he stayed in bed and fell asleep, so we're pretty excited. We've been putting him in his crib to fall asleep, then moving him to the bed for about 2 weeks now, and we began noticing that he would peek into his room and look at his bed at bedtime every night, so we decided to give it a try and are so glad we did. He's starting to try and use more words. He isn't very articulate but we've discovered that I am "mama" and "Arielle" my mom is "Mom" and "Granny" (but he won't say Granny, he just calls her mom). He asks for pretzels, books, and balls, and will say "oh" when we tell him where his toys are. This afternoon he imitated my sentence "Daddy is in the garage" pretty will with "Dada in (insert gibberish form of garage here) and the rest all seems to be beyond my comprehension except Wednesday when Byron pointed out a baby bunny in the yard and Caleb exclaimed "a widdle one!" He loves to brush his teeth with Daddy in the mornings and waves to anyone and everyone.
Byron: Monday on the way to work he hit a rock and it popped his bicycle tire so I've been picking him up and dropping him off each day. At first he was trying to get in touch with the bike guy at Dick's to see if his service plan covered parts and labor, but he hasn't been able to reach him so Saturday afternoon we just went to Dick's and got the parts for him to do it himself and he got it taken care of. Other than that his week was pretty un-eventful, just the usual meetings and projects. Wednesday night he attended the temple with Centerville ward for their Youth baptism and confirmation trip. He said he got to hear a lot of Hungarian names and even did some of the confirmations, but laughed about how they were rather mis-pronounced by the brethren who don't know Hungarian.
Arielle: I've enjoyed getting to spend time with family this week! My Aunt Dorothy was in town for her daughter's baptism so on Tuesday she, my Aunt Wendy and her daughter Katrina, my mom, and Grandma Lane, and I all went to the YMCA in Kettering for water zumba. We had a blast dancing around in the water and it was so great to have family there. Afterwards my aunts dropped off their children at the roller rink (free roller skating!) and we all went out for lunch. I loved it. Thursday was Aunt Dorothy's last day in Ohio so we went to the YMCA in Englewood and did a bars and paddles water aerobics class together. It was pretty fun and I must admit, letting the water support my ever growing belly was a huge relief. I'm seriously considering that a Y membership wouldn't be a bad option for our family. We shall see. :) Afterwards the little cousins all got to go to the splash pad and play while we had a picnic before we went to the Englewood Reserve to play in the river. It was a pretty hot day and I was worn out by the end, but it was fun and family time is totally worth it.
In General: We've had a really busy week. Tuesday evening we went to Englewood for a cook out at my Uncle Ben and Aunt Liz's house where we had yummy grilled chicken and birthday cake (Aunt Liz and my cousin Katrina both had birthdays this week). Thursday night I took dinner to one of my visiting teachees who just had a baby, I was a little bummed not to have time to chat with her and hold her sweet bundle of joy, but we were having the Elders and one of Byron's home teachees over for dinner and I had a lot to do after spending all day in Englewood. It turned out to be a fun evening though and Caleb loved having people here. He cried hysterically when they left...thank goodness it was bedtime! Friday night Byron and I got to go to the temple. One of the young men in our ward that is the same age (even has the same birthday) as Chandler, came to babysit Caleb and I managed to make us late enough that we going to be there at 6, which is when the session was supposed to start. When I realized we just couldn't make it in time I called to ask if we could do an initiatory session instead. When we got there Byron found he didn't have his recommend. A huge surprise since he had just used it Wednesday evening. He later found it on the floor of our bedroom closet, but we were feeling a little hairy scary. They were able to get him in however, and they asked us to join that evenings sealing session, which is always an incredibly special experience. I love getting to hear the promises I made on my wedding day over and over and I just love the spirit present in the temple and how excited the workers are to have people there and how willing they are to teach things about the special ordinances that are happening. The spirit was so strong and at the end we found out one of the sisters was there for her 3rd time since becoming a member last year. It was her first time performing sealings and you could just see the joy and light in her eyes. The light of Christ truly makes everyone beautiful. Saturday we got up and ran errands before attending a baby shower for a friend of ours who is due 3 or 4 days after me. They haven't found out the gender, so gift shopping was a little difficult, but we had a good time watching them play their games for a little bit before getting Caleb home for a much needed nap.
