Oh, What Lovely Fun

This week we've enjoyed splendidly cool temperatures after a rain storm that came in Monday afternoon and I must admit, it was nice having the windows open and enjoying fresh air after acting like the house was a tomb last week.

Caleb:  He's been going to bed each night in his big boy bed and I can't even begin to describe how wonderful it is!  Friday he even took his nap in there and I'm beginning to feel like he'll make the official transition sooner and easier than I thought he would :).  He's getting better at communicating when he wants down or when he's done eating, and I love how much he'll snuggle into me to watch an episode of Little Einsteins.  It's rather endearing.  He's also starting to show signs of needing potty training, but I'm not sure I'm quite ready for that since I'm not sure where to start, so I'm waiting at least a little longer.

Byron:  He's been responsible for compiling everyone's End of Month reports this month so he's been doing a lot more writing this week than he would like to, but I think he's probably doing a great job of it.  Thursday afternoon Tri pulled him into the conference room to chat.  They talked about work and family, and Tri explained how much he and Jeff Berrie (The gentleman who owns the company) appreciate all the hard work Byron does and how well he's been doing with a recent project.  He's enjoyed riding his bike in the cooler temperatures and is wishing the summer would just stay this mild.

Arielle:  Tuesday I went to water zumba again with my mom, sister Alyssa, Aunt Wendy, and 2 cousins, Katrina and Samantha.  We had a good time, even though we got trapped in the front of the class, and I wanted to join them for a trip to the thrift store afterward but Monday I discovered we badly needed new tires on our front end, so my mom volunteered to watch Caleb while I went to the shop to have it taken care of.  It ended up being a bit more than we had planned since they didn't have the tires I needed in stock, it was badly out of alignment, and all but 1 of my lights was out in the back end, but all week I've been grateful that I got it all taken care of and felt much safer.  Thursday morning I kidnapped my sister, Gabrielle, to come be my mother's helper.  She took Caleb to the park and kept him occupied in the toy room while I cleaned the kitchen and dining room, vacuumed out the car, and did some laundry. I was happy to have the help since Caleb has recently discovered how much he likes to follow me and undo everything I've just done, and I got to chat with her a bit and realize once again what an incredible sister she is.

In General:  It seems our evenings have been rather packed this week.  Monday, since it was raining, Byron couldn't cut the grass and we had a longer, more involved, Family Home Evening.  Caleb loves all the songs we sing and has gotten pretty good about listening to us as we read scriptures and give a short lesson.  His favorite part was reading all his books from the library for activity and eating his popsicle.  Tuesday evening Byron took the opportunity to mow the lawn since the rain has been helping it grow so fast.  Wednesday I picked Byron up from work and we went out to enjoy the incredible 70 degree weather.  We had gone to Cox first to feed the fish, but they weren't really responding to us, so we found a nice park instead and let Caleb play on the slides and the swings.  It was beautiful and I didn't want the evening to end.  Thursday evening Byron and I joined my parents for a double date to LaComedia, a dinner theater in Springboro, to celebrate their wedding anniversary.  It was a fun atmosphere with good food and an amusing show. We went to see Peter Pan and Captain Hook was by far my favorite.  He definitely played to the crowd and was extremely talented.  We got home pretty late that night so Byron slept in a little Friday morning before heading to work.  Friday night we went to a community pool in Beavercreek for the CEM team's pool party.  They like to get together outside of work and try to act normal when their boss is in town from California, and usually the couples just get together for dinner out, but this time it was a family event.  Unfortunately, Byron is one of the 2 people on the team with a young child, and the other guy's wife was out of town, so I volunteered to watch Caleb with the other 2 children there the baby pool while the team went and played volleyball.  We had yummy pizza for dinner and Byron's supervisor made ice cream for everyone.  Overall it was a fun evening and I'm glad we went.  It's always fun to see Byron and how well he gets along with the people he works with.  They all love learning new things as much as he does and I'm so grateful he has such a perfect job.  Saturday was pretty laid back.  The only things we had to do were get Chandler to and from ref training, and Alyssa to and from work, as well as go to a friends house for dinner.  We made 2 delicious desserts (Byron made no bake peanut butter cheesecake and I made something called chocolate lasagna) to take with us.  Caleb liked the cantaloupe and corn bread they served, and I was excited to have enchiladas.  We played a quick game before having to leave to pick up Alyssa, and I was a little bummed not to get to stay longer, but even with Caleb's 2 1/2 hour nap, he was getting cranky so it's good that we had a reason to make me leave.  :)

David:  He's running out of room, and I enjoy sitting in straight backed chairs more than big cushy ones right now.  I'm looking forward to his arrival but find it hard to believe that I have a mere 4 weeks and 2 days left...hopefully hahaha

Lookin' cute with Daddy's bandanna

Playing in a box with Uncle Charlie - a favorite pastime :)

Playing at the park in gorgeous weather Wednesday night

Playing with Mommy's hair clips.

Getting ready for lunch after church today.
He's growing up!
Here's the link for the song I got this week's blog title from.  It's not very good quality but it's one of the songs from the play we saw at LaComedia (not the same production).
