Summer Lovin' Happened So Fast

Last weekend everyone celebrated the "official end of Summer" and now that the week is over, I guess we've done a lot, but it all feels like it happened ages ago.  I guess we'll see what I can remember.

David:  He's still sleeping really well at night, spending more time awake during the day.  His eyes seem to be lightening up, but staying blue, so I guess we'll see what happens there.  My mom took some beautiful pictures of him Tuesday afternoon, and he's starting to smile more, never in relation to anything, but it's still pretty darn cute and I'm looking forward to seeing it more and more as he grows.  He got a cute sweater in the mail from his Aunt Melissa this week.  Unfortunately I don't have a picture of him in it yet.

Caleb:  He was going full tilt and wiping me out everyday until Thursday.  He got a 24 hour bug that included a fever and discharge in his ears, so he was pretty cranky and clingy, but he went to bed really well that night and woke up bright and happy Friday morning, so I'm guessing he's alright.  He was really affectionate at church this morning, throwing his arms around me and kissing my cheek randomly throughout sacrament meeting and when I took him into nursery he didn't want me to leave, more because he wanted to show me all the cool stuff than because he was feeling clingy, so I waited until there were more children in there to distract him and made my escape to him blowing kisses instead of throwing a fit.

Byron:  Work has gone pretty well this week.  He got a new computer Friday afternoon and will be working on getting all of his files and programs transferred over to it over the next couple of days.  The weather has been really nice, so he's been loving his bike rides, and soccer practices get more fun for him the more he goes.  He and the coach will often play goalie for a short scrimmage at the end of practice and he enjoys watching the team play.

Arielle:  I got to spend a surprising amount of time with my family this week considering how much work my mom had to get done for the senior pictures, family portraits, and wedding she shot last weekend.  Monday evening my cousin Katrina came over to make hair bows for her baby before she spent the next day packing and Wednesday leaving for Idaho.  I was sad to see her leave, knowing it was the last time I would see her for at least 4 months, but I was glad she was willing to make the drive to see me one last time and the bows and flowers we managed to make while she was here were really cute.  My favorite was Friday morning when I met my parents and baby brother at the park and we watched the boys swing a bit and played tennis.  We've planned a double date for next Friday, playing tennis and I can't wait.  I'm not very good, but it will be fun. :)

In General:  Monday was a pretty busy day for being a holiday.  Byron was off work, so we spent the morning running a of couple errands and getting the house back into a livable condition, and went to the pool with my family and the family of my dad's best friend from high school since it was the last day of the season.  Byron had a good time playing with Caleb in the water and Alyssa enjoyed getting to hold David for nearly 2 hours straight.  Tuesday at lunch Byron and I went to the bank and started the application process for the loan we'll need to buy the house we're currently renting from my parents.  Next week we'll be going in to sign some more paperwork and really get the ball rolling.  My parents watched Caleb and David for us, for which I was extremely grateful, and I'm excited about this new phase we'll be beginning.  That evening we had the elders for dinner and I made a new cake my mom had made for Sunday dinner, and it was a huge hit.  After dinner they helped us out by putting up the glow in the dark stars I had gotten to put on the ceiling in David's room.  They didn't need any step stools so the work went much faster for them than it would have for Byron and I since they could just walk around the room sticking things to the ceiling.  Friday Byron and I went on our first date since having David.  My parents watched the boys and we went out for ice cream and walked around the trails at the park behind our old apartment complex.  It was a relatively short date, but absolutely wonderful, and I was so happy to have such awesome parents who were willing to watch our children again since I wasn't ready to leave both of them with a teenager yet. :) Yesterday we went to Chandler's soccer game in Waynesville and I sat anxiously on the sidelines listening to the opposing team parents complain about how often he was side tackling their players and running all the way out to center field to clear the ball when he was playing keeper.  In the afternoon we went to Gabrielle and Alyssa's games and I was amazed by how great my sisters are at soccer.  They run fast and control the ball really well.  Gabrielle scored the only point her got yesterday right was we were getting there (we were a little late) and there was no way the goalie could have blocked it as it soared in right under the top of the goal. This evening we're headed to my Grandma Lane's house.  She had surgery on Friday so we're joining my parents and siblings in spending some time with her and hoping we don't overwhelm her since she's still in the recovery stage.
