David: He had his 6 month check up on Thursday afternoon. The NP said he's really close to having his teeth rupture, tried to convince me I was nursing too often, and seemed concerned that I couldn't answer in the affirmative that he was passing toys from hand to hand (which he can do) or that he was rolling over. Thank goodness I didn't let it get to me. Too much (can you tell I'm not over the fact that there's someone in the world trying to say he's not perfect?? hahahaha) He got his vaccines and did a pretty wonderful job of not screaming all the way out of the office. He's sitting up really well, eating like there's no tomorrow, and grinning his face off in the mean time.
Caleb: He's so excited about the new bunk beds we put up last night. He also loves playing with the new rocket launcher (much like a nerf gun) that he got from Granny for Valentine's Day, and is really showing what a great big brother he is by helping David stay happy when Mommy isn't giving him enough attention. The best part of his week was finding a 49 cent tractor at Goodwill that he's been playing with ever since. He also really got into playing in the snow this week with Granny and was so mad when I made him come inside because his hands were getting too cold.
Byron: He's had a great couple of weeks. Work is going well, he loves playing with Caleb and even managed to spare a few hours helping me get parts of the house back in order since I was starting to go a bit crazy not having any clean sanctuary to speak of while we finish working in the bedroom.
Arielle: I'm still exercising pretty consistently. I've lost 15 lbs since January 1st, and while this week has been a total loss thanks to the chocolates Byron gave me for Valentine's Day, I know I can get back on track tomorrow morning and keep moving in the right direction. I love seeing the room come together, spending time watching Caleb learn and grow, and holding my snuggly David. Tuesday my Mommy helped me hang a new door (frame and all) in the room we've been working on, and I'm feeling like super woman every time I look at it. :)
In General: We've had a pretty exciting couple of weeks. Last Thursday the Elders came for dinner with a family who was investigating the church. They have 7 (he has 3 and she has 4 from seperate relationships) and they're getting ready to be married mid-June. Their children are all amazing and sem so eager to learn everything they can. They've come to church a couple of times as a family, and made it to our house for Family Home Evening and dinner last Monday night, but today the Elders told us she didn't think it was right for their family right now, so I'm going to try to keep in touch with her, and at least that seed has been planted.
Last Saturday we went to the Circus! It was amazing, they had such incredible performances and I had an even more enjoyable time since Byron has never been to the circus before so it was his and Caleb's first time. Byron didn't expect much out of it, but was impressed by many of the acts and said it was worth the time after all, so that was a high light for me since he only agreed to go "for the family time". That evening we had Tyler and Kate Guy come for dinner and games. It was fun spending time with them, getting to know them. Byron's boss recently asked him if he could recommend anyone for an internship so we're hoping Tyler can get one at BerrieHill since he's a computer science major at Wright State right now.
Valentine's Day was really wonderful. Byron took half hour lunches the past week so he could stay home late Friday morning and we made Nutella stuffed french toast for breakfast. It was absolutely delicious and it was nice having him home that extra time in the morning. For lunch my daddy watched Caleb and David while Byron took me out on a date. We had been thinking about Olive Garden but opted for Chipotle instead, and he took me to get flowers afterwards. One of the women in our old ward works at the flower shop we went to so we got VIP treatment and she took us into the back where all of their new fresh roses were being stored and let me pick any ones I wanted. Byron found the most perfect roses ever and she de-thorned them and wrapped them up with some free baby's breath before sending us on our way. Needless to say I felt incredibly blessed and so grateful for such a thoughtful friend. That night instead of making a fun dinner and having a dance party like we had planned we picked up the bunk beds I had found at Sams Club that had been marked down 25% just because the box had been opened when they were trying to put them up on their shelf to be stored. They're beautiful and last night we put them up in the new room. Thankfully my parents watched the boys again while we worked on them since it took us about 3 hours without any distractions and I can't imagine how long it would have taken with Caleb there trying to steal tools and David wanting to be held and fed.
That's all the news we have to share for now. Hope you're all doing well. Cheerio!

ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet! I love Carson and am trying so hard to teach Caleb who he is. I still have the picture we took of all the babies at the last family reunion on my desktop for that express purpose. hahaha
