Bumps and Bruises and Scrapes, Oh My!

Byron is being a gem and singing the boys to sleep for me tonight, so I thought I would try to bust out a quick blog.

We have had quite a week and all of the boys (Byron included) have received injury of one sort or another.

David and Caleb were playing "Puppy" and for some reason Caleb decided to jump on David! so David is sporting a nice bit of rug burn right on his hairline and seriously hates getting his hair washed because of it.

Byron was going down the stairs Saturday morning and stepped on a toy car that the boys had left there.  It cut his foot, he fell spraining a muscle in his leg and dropped Ezekiel.  Fortunately this didn't leave any marks because Tuesday night, Ezekiel was climbing down from Caleb's bunk bed and fell face first onto the floor, knocking out one of his baby teeth and leaving a bruise on the side of his face.  If that wasn't bad enough Friday morning he tripped over his own feet and landed face first on the driveway, so he has road rash on his other cheek. That poor kid.

Then, last but not least, Ezekiel got a hold of a glass.  He was banging it on something and the glass shattered.  He was smart enough not to touch it after that, but Caleb, being the big helper he is, tried to help clean up the glass and got a cut on his finger before coming to tell me what had happened.

Sssooooo yeah.  The safest members of my family appear to be Hannah and Gideon since they are safely cocooned in their little bubbles out of harms way, and I no longer worry about them kicking each other. 😜

For those of you still with me after those horror stories - here are the highlights of our week.

Caleb has started sounding out words all on his own so I bought him some sight word flash cards at the dollar store.  He is so excited about them and carries them around the house with him asking for help when he needs it.

David loves to stop every baby we see and coo over how cute it's tiny fingers and feet are and leave kisses on their foreheads.  It's adorable if it's at church and we know the people.  It's a little more embarrassing when we're at the store and he's stopping complete strangers.

Ezekiel also loves babies, as long as they are smaller than him and he can sit on my lap with them.  If I hold them instead he gets a little jealous.  We'll see how things go this fall when both of my arms are full of squirmy little babies that are not him.

Byron is everyone's superhero and our saving grace these days.  My belly really popped this last week, I felt the babies all the way up in my ribs Sunday morning and am starting to feel the strain on my back if I try to walk around too much, so Byron makes dinner almost every night now, does all the dishes and loads the laundry so all I have to do is sort it.  He is also facing some big changes at work that I am super nervous about.  BerrieHill is being purchased (?) by a bigger company that is looking to branch into the world of electromagnetics, radar, and antennae, and is "acquiring" BerrieHill as a division of their company.  Jeff (the man who founded BerrieHill) is going to be a VP in the company and will still be in charge of running BerrieHill so Byron views it as a merging of companies, but because the other guys are so big (1,100 employees compared to BerrieHill's 65) I am nervous about the future of the company and Byron's place in it.  The best news for me so far with it is that they are staying in their current building so Byron can still bike to work when he's not on base, and we're being transferred to an insurance company that has Premier Health still in their network, so even though I filled out the paperwork and was covered for the remainder of my pregnancy, I won't have to file any more if something were to happen and the twins had to stay in the NICU longer than our coverage allowed. (We're hoping that doesn't happen, but it's best to prepare for the worst case scenario right?)

Since I now feel like a beached manatee I avoid picking up Ezekiel as much as possible and refuse to carry David at all, which just means if he falls asleep in the car he then zombie walks himself into the house and crashes on the floor as soon as he gets inside.  I am looking forward to my OB appointment on Wednesday.  I'm hoping they'll measure and I'll get to find out how big I am because I certainly feel giant.  I am so grateful for long maternity dresses and their guarenteed coverage!

Friday night was Gabrielle's graduation party! Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures, but it was a fun party and because it was raining when it started my kids were all drenched from playing in the puddles in the park.  It was seriously the best party ever.

Saturday morning I got to go to a Baby Fair with another girl in my ward who is pregnant.  We had so much fun getting to walk around looking at all the cute baby gear and entering into drawings for a number of different things.  A lot of the booths were doing drawings for massages and pedicures.  I'm guessing since I haven't been contacted I didn't win any of them, but since Byron gave me an at home pedicure Sunday night I'm not too bummed about it. hahaha

Saturday afternoon I took my sister Alyssa to the airport.  She is headed to Utah to be an EFY counselor this summer and is super excited! I was grateful for the time we got to spend talking a bit before she left.

Yesterday we got to join all of the Ohio family in Englewood to witness Patricia's baby blessing.  I think baby blessings are so special and I always look forward to being witness to them.  Even if my kids are being crazy and distracting.

Well, I suppose that's all the news I have here this week.  We are looking forward to hearing the news from Craig and Mindy, who's newest addition should be here no later than Thursday (there is an induction scheduled for Wednesday) and I love hearing from everyone else as well.  Your weekly updates are my favorite part of Sunday evenings!

My beautiful Aunt Liz and her sweet baby Patricia.  It was bright outside so the baby couldn't keep her eyes open but it was such a special day! I'm glad she let me take a picture.

Byron is such a good sport and always put up with my skincare requests.

The latest of Hannah from my ultrasound a week and a half ago.

Here is little Gideon.  I love them both so stinkin' much!

My kids have more fun playing at Granny's house.

Proof that Ezekiel used to have all of his teeth hahaha

The boys went on a walk with Granny after Sunday dinner and Caleb packed water bottles in the stroller to "keep everyone hydrated" He cracks me up.

My sweet sister in law Mindy sent us a super fun package for the twins this week!  I can't wait to use these adorable outfits on Hannah and Gideon.
