This week I was anxious to see some changes that indicated I was moving toward labor, so I tried to keep as busy as possible. Obviously Heavenly Father loves me and all the movement and activity paid off before the week was out. :)
David:
He has joined our little family and we couldn't be happier. He
spoils us sleeping for 2-4 hour stretches at night so long as he
doesn't get too cold or need to fill a diaper, (something that didn't
happen with Caleb until he was much
older) and is nursing
very well. We are so grateful for him and are looking forward to watching him grow.
Caleb:
I don't remember much happening before Friday, but he had a pretty
great weekend. We dropped him off with his Granny and Grandad Friday
morning and it sounds like he had a pretty good time. He got to go
to the pool Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, where he was brave
enough to crawl around on his hands with his feet dragging out behind
him. I was pretty excited to hear about that since it meant he was
voluntarily putting his head so close to the water, something he has
avoided like the plague since he got tubes in his ears. He bonded
with my parents dog better, got to go to nursery with his Uncle
Charlie, came to see us in the hospital Saturday and Sunday mornings
and from what I hear, was extremely well behaved, which makes me
happy. :)
Byron:
This week he was working on a lot of documentation for a current
project, so nothing too exciting, which means I don't have to give
him up for any meetings this week, which makes me happy. He's loved
riding his bike this week and lamented the mornings he couldn't since
the weather was so
perfect for bike rides. He was ready to leave the hospital Saturday
morning, so he was really excited Sunday morning when they agreed to
a 24 hour post partum stay for David and I instead of the usual 2-3
days.
Arielle:
I tried to keep pretty busy this week so I spent a lot of time with
my family. Monday I took Alyssa and our cousin Samantha to run
errands with me before dropping them off for a birthday party in
Springboro. Tuesday
I just hung around while they enjoyed their last day of summer, and
Wednesday I only went over for a short visit around lunch time
because I was missing people after spending the morning home with
Caleb...and
my mommy had offered to share a delicious lemon cake her neighbor had
given her. :) Thursday I spent the morning helping my mom get
Chandler to an appointment in Dayton to get his shots for school,
then running errands and going for a great walk at Cox Arboretum.
In
General:
Our evenings have been pretty busy this week. Tuesday evening Byron
and I toured the Miami Valley South campus. We had decided that I
wasn't going to have a water birth with David since we knew he was
going to be pretty big, so I didn't feel the need for the birthing
suites in Family Beginnings and wanted to check out the hospital
because it was closer to home. We found out I could still water
labor, something I knew I did still want, and the rooms looked
comfortable, but we were still undecided when we left that evening
since I had enjoyed our experience with Family Beginnings so much,
but by Friday morning we had decided to go with Miami Valley South
since it was closer and my OB was already there
so I would see him sooner. Wednesday afternoon Byron left work a
little early so he
could
come with me for the OB appointment. The OB told me I was measuring
between 40 and 41 weeks, and I was favorable for an induction so we
scheduled one for the coming Tuesday since we had decided I would
rather have David induced a week early than risk needing a c-section
if he got too big. Obviously we didn't need it since he came on his
own over the weekend, but leaving the appointment I was glad to feel
so prepared. The elders came for dinner that night and we enjoyed
getting to know our new elder a little better. He hasn't been out
very long, this is only his second area, but he's much more talkative
than the last elder who had been here and we enjoyed having them
here. Thursday evening Caleb and I went with Byron to his soccer
practice and Caleb enjoyed trying to push his stroller around by
himself. One of these days I'll remember to bring our soccer ball
with us for him to play with, but he was great about not trying to
take any of the balls the boys had brought to practice. Sunday
morning my mommy came with Caleb to see David again before church. I
was so glad they came. I had been missing Caleb and feeling cooped
up, so having them there made the morning much more enjoyable.
Around lunch we were able to come home from the hospital, and it felt
strange to not be going to church. Both Byron and I commented on how
we had thought “maybe we can go for the sacrament” but we didn't
get out in time to put church clothes on before going and didn't want
to go in street clothes, so we did what we were supposed to and
relaxed at home, keeping David away from crowds. :) We went to my
parents for dinner that night, homemade chicken'n'noodles that were
absolutely divine, and David got passed around. He handles it so
well and I enjoy seeing how much everyone loves him.
That's
all the news from our part of the world from this last week. I hope
you all are enjoying the end of your summers and the start of new
school years. We love you all so much and are so grateful for your
love. Cheerio!

A link to this week's blog title song. I was amazed to learn Byron had never heard of it.
