Caleb: I just keep falling in love with him this week. Thursday he got to play with Carson. They watched bits and pieces of Robin Hood and enjoyed playing with all of the toys in the house. He's gotten really good at telling me he wants to vacuum by pointing to the closet where I keep the one he can push around and saying "voom voom" He dances anywhere he hears music, and sometimes even if there isn't any, and loves playing ring around the rosies with his Daddy. It melts my heart and I'm just so proud of the little boy he's growing into. A friend of mine suggested getting a baby doll Caleb could "take care of" so he could learn and better understand what things will be like with a new baby brother, so Friday, after pricing baby dolls at a couple of different stores (they are so expensive!) I asked Gabrielle if she would agree to give up one of her old ones. She did, and I am so grateful. He's been loving on that baby doll all weekend and I think it's absolutely darling. I picked up some clothes for it at Once Upon a Child (it fits in the newborn size) and Caleb was so excited when I put it's first little outfit on. He carries it around, pats it's back, snuggles it, and has even replaced his bedtime monkey with it. I got out David's baby swing for Gracie the other day too and haven't put it away yet, so Caleb loves to push his baby in the swing. I hope he's this awesome with his baby brother. <3
Byron: He seems to have been kind of busy this week although I'm not sure why. Things have been pretty normal at work, but Monday night was his first practice as assistant coach for Chandler's soccer team. Thursday he made dinner for me when practice was cancelled due to the thunder storms, and yesterday he spent the morning mowing the lawn. He got a pretty cute picture of Caleb "helping" him and was excited to have had a little bit of big boy bonding time. :)
Arielle: I've just been trying to keep myself busy. Wednesday I took care of my preregistration at Family Beginnings (the natural birthing center at Miami Valley hospital where we had Caleb, before going to my OB appointment. I got to spend Thursday afternoon with my cousin Katrina and her 2 sweeties. Can I just say how much I love holding soft little babies?? Friday I went with my mom to the grocery store and managed not to buy anything - until I went back with Byron the next day, then I got in on a lot of the awesome sales they had this week. :) Unfortunately I have no brain, so I don't really remember the beginning of the week, but I know I've been waiting anxiously for this baby. I need something to keep me busy, but I can't bring myself to go walk around a craft store to find stuff since my belly is so flipping huge. Yesterday a couple of wonderful women from my ward hosted a "diaper shower" for me and the sister who's due date is a mere 3 days before mine. It was fun to socialize and eat yummy soup, and I don't think I"ll be needing to buy wipes for at least a year :).
In General: We've had a really great week. Tuesday night we picked up the elders and went to the home of one of Byron's Home Teachees who is on vacation. We had a picnic in the yard, then they spent the next hour and a half using one of the motorless lawn mowers to cut the grass on a postage stamp of a yard. It was pretty fast in the back yard, but the front yards grass was much thicker and it took them a long time. I was very grateful Byron had help, because it would have taken 2x longer without them. There were a ton of bugs and Caleb's legs got pretty eaten up within just the first 20-30 minutes we were there and I was so grateful Byron let me go get some bug spray so it wouldn't get any worse. Friday night Byron took me on a wonderful date and I really enjoyed getting to spend time with him. I've been feeling a little rundown and overwhelmed by all of my physical limitations, so a short picnic and walking in the pool for about an hour was perfect. Today Byron and I both seem to have caught some little bug and are feeling a little out of sorts, but I'm hoping it passes as quickly as it set in.
David: I went to my 37 week appointment Wednesday afternoon and he hadn't grown since the week before (at least not in a way they could measure from outside my belly) so I'm still at a 39, but since Byron and I had discussed things and decided I would rather have induced labor than a c-section, I took some extra time and asked her questions about what would happen if we did choose to induce early so he wouldn't get too big. She informed me they don't induce until 39 weeks at the earliest, and warned me about how it can be a long process. Since I had spoken to a couple other people who had been in the hospital for 2 or 3 days with inductions, I was already aware of this and she sounded glad that I wasn't trying to make a blind decision with unrealistic expectations. By the end of the appointment we had settled on waiting until this weeks coming appointment to decide on scheduling an induction and see how things are looking. Byron and my Daddy gave me a priesthood blessing this evening and I felt reassured that things would happen in their own due time, although I really wouldn't mind if he came today...or tomorrow...or anytime in the very near future. :) The Braxton Hicks contractions are starting to come a little more frequently - and getting stronger, but I don't really have the highest of hopes.
Well, I guess that's all for this week. Sorry it got a little long, but life is happening and I want to be able to remember it all. Hope you're all doing well! We love each and every one of you. Cheerio!
