I've Had the Time of My Life

We've had a lot of fun this week, and I feel fortunate to be able to share it with you guys!

David:  He's been so fun this week. We love his hugs and smiles, and he loves to melt the hearts of those around him while blowing kisses.  Today he didn't manage to fall asleep on the drive to church, so he was pretty tired, and near the end of sacrament meeting, during the last testimony, I look up and see him being lifted into the lap of the brother sitting in front of us.  Brother Perez only has 1 child, and she's about 8 years old (his wife was unable to have more than 1) so he lifts David kind of awkwardly, but David doesn't mind at all, and just snuggled right into his shoulder.  I'm pretty sure he would have just fallen asleep, but Byron, Caleb, and Sister Perez were all laughing and whispering, so David didn't manage it, but it was still adorable.  At one point during the closing song Byron tried to get David to come back to our pew, but David wasn't having it, and Brother Perez didn't mind, so he just stayed there.  It was rather darling.  I'm sitting there thinking "I'm so fortunate to have such friendly ward members" and Byron leans over and says "It's a good thing we have such cute kids"...I guess it takes all kinds right? haha

Caleb:  He has been so amazing this week! He's been working on his sign language, and is up to about 12 signs that he can sign on demand.  He still needs a little help with "hurt", but he loves it, and it's so cute.  We didn't have any major tantrums or melt downs, he's been taking his naps every day, staying in bed most nights, and giving hugs to his brother.  He's been obedient and kind, and an over all joy to spend time with.

My favorite was when he came into my room after lunch yesterday and said "Mommy, I need to talk to you.  Thank you for making me ramen noodles for lunch.  They're my favorite!"  I figured Byron had put him up to it, but when I was telling him about it later, Byron said he had no idea and that he hadn't even mentioned it to him.

My other favorite moment this week was when he heard that David was awake from his nap and said "He's alive!"

He's also been trying out some new words he's been catching from us like "absurd" (he only pronounces the "surd") and "pathetic". I don't even know how to type what it actually sounds like, but it's adorable.

Byron:  He's been busy with work this week, but enjoyed getting out of the office Friday for a meeting on base.  The gentleman who drove had a base pass that had expired, but had decided to use it has his form of ID when getting onto the base.  The guard then confiscated it and asked him to pull up and wait while they printed off a form explaining why they had taken it and how he could renew it.  Byron and the 2 other men in the car joked about just driving away since he didn't need his pass and had no desire to renew it, but that they better do as the guard had asked since she had a gun.

He's been so great this week helping out more with the boys in the evening and catering to me in the mornings since I have been fighting a chest cold with a yucky cough and soar throat.  He even taught my Sunbeams today so I wouldn't have to try to talk over 6 very active little 3 and 4 year olds.  He truly is a blessing in my life every day of the week.

Arielle:  In my spare time this week I've been putting up a new wall of pictures and decor, as well as a couple of small sewing projects.  My grandmother invented a nursing cover called "nursing ponchos" and my mom taught me how to make them this week.  I am having a good time with it, but am not nearly as good as my grandma or mom at making them.  Practice makes perfect though right?

In General:
Wednesday evening Byron and I both ended up at the church, but I stayed in the gym playing with the boys while Byron took the car and 2 of his scouts to try to gather prizes for the 5k run/walk they're planning as their scout camp fundraiser.  He was able to acquire a fair amount of free admission passes to our local skate rink, but the managers at the other stores he went to had already gone home for the evening so he's going to call them this week and try to talk to people who can actually help him out.

Friday evening we got to go to Skateworld for Gabrielle and Chandler's birthday party.  My parents rented out the rink for a full hour and a half (the party was 2 hours but the last half hour was open to the public)  Gabrielle had gotten to choose the playlist for the whole 2 hours though, so the music was all clean and fun, there was a full hour of unlimited pizza, and all of Gabrielle and Chandlers friends were so respectful and considerate so even though my boys were stumbling along in the path of fellow, bigger skaters, They didn't get knocked over even once.  It was so fun and Caleb and David skated for almost the entire hour and a half we were there.  I was pretty amazed, and now am sure I"ll be hitting the place up more often.

Saturday afternoon Byron and I enjoyed gettign to talk to Mom and Dad Boulton a little bit.  We had originally called so the boys could see them, but Caleb and David quickly found their toys a bit more interesting, and that was okay with us.
Saturday evening our friends came over for dinner and games.  We used to start around 6, and by the end of our evening the kids would be pretty tired, but we started at 4 yesterday and it was perfect.  We played a game that could only have up to 4 players and since there were 6 of us, we just pulled out 3 sets of game pieces and took turns doing girls, then boys in teams of spouses.  The game is called Qubitz and you have to recreate patterns on cards with about 16 small blocks that have a different print on each of the 6 sides.  It was super fun, and by having only 3 of us playing at a time, it freed up the other half of us to help when the kids needed something.  It was wonderful.

This evening we had my family and our ward Elders over for dinner.  I'm so happy to have my house clean enough that I'm not embarrassed having people over.  I love cooking and we really enjoyed spending time with my family.  Alyssa was facetiming with Gabby most of the evening so it was nice to see her and get to talk to her tonight as well.

I think that's all of the things we've had going on recently.  Byron is looking forward to taking Caleb with him to the Father/Son campout this coming weekend and I'm looking forward to a girls night! (With David. <3)  Hope you're all doing well and loving life.  Cheerio!

Caleb with his skates and skate mate.  It helped a lot...

David skating! He didn't care much for the skate mate.

My handsome love with David.

David trying on my glasses...

The gorgeous poncho my mom made this week.  You can't see it in the picture but the pink sparkles!

The wall I decorated this week. I stop and stare at it at least 3 times a day. :)

My first attempt at a poncho.  it was a different style fabric than my grandma and Mom usually use, so I used the binding for the neck and the bottom, but I think it turned out okay.

My second attempt at a poncho.  I got the neck on this one right but cut the poncho a little short.  I'll have to give it to someone smaller than me. haha

Caleb winking at me at the end of class.  He's such a stud!
