The Other Day, I Met a Bear

I had waited a couple of days to post this since I was going to combine it with the ultra sound, but decided to post a separate one for that.  This will just be my normal weekly update.

David:  He's pretty much the same I guess.  Growing and learning new words every day.  His smile makes me happy, his play time with Caleb is a blessing - and a curse, since they seem to be pretty good at pushing each other's buttons, He is such a joy though, and definitely inherited my love for chocolate.

Tuesday morning I called to try to get an appointment with the pediatrician for him, since my perfect sleeper was up a ton the night before, but  I didn't call until late morning so they were completely booked. I ended up running him over to the urgent care instead since he was so tired and clingy.  He flipped out when the doctor began to examine him.  He cried "ow ow ow ow" the whole time she was trying to listen to his heart beat with her stethoscope and was not okay with her looking in his ears or checking his throat.  He had an ear infection in both ears, so they kindly wrote a prescription for amoxocyllin (no idea how to spell that and auto-correct isn't helping any today) and sent me on my with with a Popsicle for Caleb (he sat through the appointment completely quiet and well mannered) and a relieved David, who refused to eat the proffered treat.

Caleb:  We skipped playgroup Wednesday morning since David hadn't been on his prescription for a full 24 hours yet and Caleb was feverish and whiny.  He said his ears didn't hurt, so I didn't attempt another trip to the doctor.  We just had a quiet day at home with Tylenol and the Lion King.  He was better by the next morning and Friday I dropped him off with his Grandad and Uncle Charlie to attend a metro parks activity at Cox Arboretum.  He got to spend an hour and a half running around learning about Monarch Butterflies and hanging out with his Grandad, which is one of the greatest things in the world to him.

Byron:  He's really stepped up and taken one for the team this past weekend.  Friday night was our stake Father/Son camp out and he took Caleb and David.  I think he's pretty amazing.  He let them fish in the pond and was patient even though they caught no fish and he spent more time helping Caleb pull crud off his hook and re-cast than anything else.  He managed to get Caleb and David to go to sleep at reasonable-ish hours, even though there were still other people up and running around, but was pretty tired when he got home Saturday morning and wanted to just take a nap.He only slept for 40 minutes though before getting up to clean things that I had blissfully ignored the evening before.  He truly is my super hero.

Arielle:  This week has been blessedly busy.  Monday I used the fabric my mommy had cut for me and made nursing ponchos like my life depended on it.    Friday night while my boys were away camping I went with my mom and the 3 of my sisters still living at home to my cousin Mary's first birthday party.  She looked darling all dolled up in a little purple dress and still groggy from a late afternoon nap.  They had delicious hamburgers on the grill and yummy cake.  I loved getting to see my Aunt Liz and Uncle Ben again and socializing but had to leave pretty quickly when I felt my allergies kicking in full force.  Spring is not the happy season I seem to remember it being as a child.  After I dropped my mommy and sisters off at their house I couldn't bring myself to go home to my quiet, empty house, so I walked around the mall.  I'm pretty sure everyone thought I must be some crazy lady just meandering through the mall by myself pregnant and alone on a Friday night smiling at all the darling babies, but whatever.  I watched Newsies when I got home (seriously, one of my favorite movies...ever) then started re-reading my new favorite books.  It's so hard for me to go to sleep without my boys home, but I survived okay and was glad when they came home the next morning.  Even if I thought it was a little early. :)

Mother's Day:  I feel like I got more of a "Mother's Weekend" since Byron took the boys camping Friday night, mopped my kitchen floor, did dishes, and cleaned the basement when he got home Saturday, and still brought me breakfast in bed, and a thoughtful letter first thing Sunday morning.  He got the boys ready all on his own and even gave me time to get a nap and read to my hearts content that evening.  He was completely wiped out and went to bed early Saturday and Sunday night, but I felt quite spoiled and so grateful for my incredible husband and sweet boys.

We went to my grandparent's ward for church on Sunday as a last hurrah since they are leaving for their 18 month mission at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City Utah next weekend.  Caleb got up on the stand for his first time to sing with the primary for Mother's Day.  My grandma got up and made sure he made it to the very front of the primary kids so we could all see him and he did an awesome job of making me duck my head while giggling as quietly as possible while watching him make random signs like "airplane" at the primary chorister and smiling at me, while not even attempting to sing.  I thoroughly enjoyed the brunch of waffles, eggs, and bacon, they served the mom's during the third hour of church and was happy to leave that and head off for the amazing picnic lunch we had planned with all the Ohio Lanes.  We had yummy cold cut sandwiches, a variety of chips, as well as pasta salad and potato salad, and a lot of yummy desserts.  The kids had an awesome time running around playing in the open field next to the picnic shelter and I enjoyed socializing until I felt like I had enough pollen in my eyes to start my own beehive.  We left pretty quickly after that, but the boys were both happy and we were glad Caleb slept most of the way home.

I hope that all of you wonderful women were equally spoiled this past Mother's Day and that your husbands and children continue to remember how much you do for them. :)

He was getting a little nervous at this point, but Auntie Brie made everything okay.

Sleeping Boys
David gave up the pack'n'play around midnight and
wanted to spend the rest of the night snuggled into Byron.

They woke up early and breakfast wasn't ready yet - so Byron let them have a Doritos breakfast.
And I've been wondering why Caleb asks to go to camping every single day now. :)
