Christmas Eve: In the 3 Christmases that Byron and I have celebrated as a married couple, we have never been able to make it to Christmas before opening presents, and we were just holding up the tradition when we decided to open our gifts a day early (Byron was proud of ourselves for making it that long haha) So when Caleb woke up that morning we took him out to the tree and let him unwrap presents. I think he had a good time, and has really enjoyed playing with his new toys since (It's awesome to have his toy bin filled with age-appropriate toys that entertain him for more than 30 seconds at a time). Afterwards we ran out to Kroger for some trivial things before coming home and getting Caleb down for a nap. That evening we got to enjoy an incredible Christmas Eve party at my parents house. We had Chinese food and tons of goodies, friends and family to spend time with and went Christmas Caroling around my parents neighborhood, which I've decided is one of my favorite Christmas activities. :)
Christmas Day: By now Caleb's realized that wrapping paper is meant to be taken off of things so when I was trying to wrap one last gift, he of course came to sit in my lap and start unwrapping it - little booger. :) My parents came for brunch and we had waffles (my favorite) with fresh fruit and orange juice before we opened all the presents from each other. After we got done we sat and socialized for a while waiting for Elder David Wilson to sign onto Skype. When he got on around 1 we were all super stoked. Each person got to take turns talking to him and we got to sing a couple of Christmas songs to him and his companion, they in turn, sang us a Christmas song in Portuguese, which was awesome. That evening we went to Grandma's house for a big Christmas dinner and to see all the extended family that had come into town. We ate a ton and played Scattegories (Thanks to my sister-in-law Melissa) and had a good time.

The Lane Family Reunion:
Wednesday morning Byron went into work for a couple hours and I went and got a ride with my parents to the family activities. We started off with going to the Englewood Cinema to watch Brave - my Grandparents rented the whole theater so it was just the family and it was fun to see it on the big screen with people who didn't judge you when you laughed a little too loud. We went out for pizza afterwards before heading home (it was snowing pretty hard and we wanted to travel when the roads weren't too terrible) and Byron met up with us at my parents house to go sledding. It was a blast and I was so glad it had snowed just in time for such a fun winter activity (it started snowing sometime around 1 am that day and snowed almost the whole day)

Thursday Byron took the whole day off work and we went with the family to COSI, the Center of Science and Industry up in Columbus. We got to do the unicycle ride, play in their Lego Castle exhibit, and take Caleb into the kiddie play area. Byron participated in the blood drive they were hosting and got a voucher for free parking and a gross bruise on the inside of his elbow. It was worth it though when he won the grand prize in their drawing, a one night stay in a hotel in Columbus, that we fully intend to use this summer and take a 2 day trip to go to the temple and the Columbus Zoo.
Friday Byron was back at work that morning and I stayed home to clean up the apartment and get a nap. That evening we joined all the adults in Englewood for a date night at Smokey Bones. We had a delicious dinner and had been seated in the bar/activity area so Byron even got to play a couple games of pool with 3 of my uncles. We were all stuffed by the time we left and were more than happy to go back and collect our baby from Grandma's house (who had generously watched the young children so the adults could go out) and go home and to bed.
Saturday everyone drove to Newport Kentucky to visit the aquarium. Going through and seeing all the fish with Caleb was great fun. He loved looking at all of the different types and even got to touch a star fish and a horse shoe crab. How's that for a 1 year old? haha. That evening we all met up at the Englewood church building and ate dinner, got our pictures taken by my incredible Mommy, and had a dance. Everyone was all dressed up and had a great time spending time together.
Sunday we went to my grandparents ward with the rest of the family and Caleb was a little sweet heart climbing between the rows where the family was all seated and sharing the love.
I guess that's all for this week, Happy New Year!!!
