Getting to Know You, Getting to Know All About You

This weeks post got a little long but there are cute pictures at the end to bare with me!

Caleb:  So I never really think about it, but I don't realize how much Caleb is learning until months later when he just all of a sudden seems like a genius, so the blog will be a little long to show he's developing something other than his "Me Complex".

He can clap his hands and shout for joy (or when agitated), and climbs up on our knees - and desk chairs.  He'll pat his Daddy's cheeks, which feels more like being smacked, and blows kisses whenever one of us is leaving.

His vocabulary consists of the words Mom, book, baby, thank you, tickle (which is my personal favorite), Dad, and Grandad.  He shakes his head no or nods yes in response to questions we ask him, and he'll sign please and more if you have something he wants bad enough.  He says Mom over and over when I'm ignoring him, like he's an irritated teenager, and says Dad when we talk about him, but never to get his attention.

He loves being read to, but will flip the pages himself, and likes going back to old pages that he especially likes over and over and over again. He'll play at the library as long as we'll let him, but finds our pens and notebooks more interesting than his bin of toys at home.

He enjoys playing peek-a-boo with anyone who will pay attention, and his favorite people are Mom, Dad, Uncle Charlie, Granny, and Grandad (in no specific order, so yes, he'll pick Grandad over me on a regular basis) and loves walking around with my cell phone like he's got a million important people to talk to.

He's beginning to look more and more like a little toddler and less like a baby especially when he starts climbing a set of stairs and will look back at me grinning his face off with pride, and pulls clothes out of drawers and tries to pull him on himself, yet another reason for why I'm grateful for the baby that will be joining us at the end of August.

Byron:  He had a rather wonderful week at work.  I was especially grateful for his job this week and the lenience provided through a small company.  Tuesday we were supposed to have severe weather so one of his co-workers who lives close was willing to give him a ride to work that morning.  Then, Wednesday, after receiving about 8" of snow, he was able to work from home until lunch time after the snow plows had the time to do enough cleaning up that the main roads were fairly safe, even if everyone was still driving like a lunatic. Because of the new route he takes to work, he was riding his bike again Thursday morning, which I was also grateful for.  He was excited to join me for my OB appointment Friday during his lunch hour and hear the baby's heartbeat, and I was once again reminded of what a great husband/father he is. Thursday he went to the stake priesthood meeting so Caleb got to join me for the YW mutual night.

Arielle:  Everything is going well in my little slice of heaven.  Caleb is growing up fast, my husband is happy, we're getting out of this apartment in 2 months, and baby #2 is developing strong and healthy. Thursday night I helped with our combined mutual activity (a st. patrick's day party) by providing some fun refreshments such as "Shamrock Cookies" (mint creme fudge shoppe cookies), "Shamrock Juice" (7up infused with a sour apple mixer), "Real Leprechaun Gold" (rolos) and "Leprechaun Poo"(skittles). We also played a "Rainbow toes" game, which is the same basic idea as musical chairs but instead each person is holding a nail polish bottle and when the music stops, they have to paint a toe nail that color.  Alyssa's nails were already painted so she decided to paint Caleb's instead...I should probably take that off before church tomorrow considering my child's propensity for taking off his socks and shoes...

In General:  This week has been fabulously fun.  Byron watched a chick-flick with me and is such a sweet heart that he didn't make fun of me for crying and even found it romantic - oh how I love him.  Friday night we went with my mom and dad to the Schuster Center to see "The Addam's Family Musical".  We had awesome seats and the performers were incredible.  I wish I could afford to go there more often. I love the theater.  Today was a rather productive day.  We cleaned up a bit before heading out and getting some shopping done.  We spent a little time walking around Best Buy just looking at stuff (Byron likes to play with the tablets, but we're not looking to buy) before heading to the grocery store.  We got a little stick vacuum with a handheld that comes off so I could vacuum the car and little messes around the apartment with ease. While unpacking it Caleb took the handle and vacuum attachment and ran before we even got the actual vacuum unpacked.  Once we got the pieces back and put everything together Caleb was so excited that he could push it around and acted like he was absolutely heart broken when Byron put it away.  Daddy tried to explain that it's a tool, not a toy, but to no avail.  Caleb was convinced he should be allowed to play with it longer and rebuffed any consolation I tried to offer.  Little stinker.

Guess that's all for now.  We love you all and can't wait to hear how you're doing.  Cheerio!

He had pulled one of Byron's shirts out of his dresser and kept trying to put it on so we helped him out.
 He was pretty stoked

Snuggling again.  You can tell he's tired <3

While cleaning we pulled a sticker off his new sled and I put it on his forehead.
He kept acting like he was going to pull it off then patting it back down onto his head and walking around.
