It's Christmas Time

This week's biggest highlight was Christmas, but we managed to get a couple other things done as well.

Christmas Eve:  That morning Caleb had a doctors appointment.  When he was a baby, the OB that did his circumcision hadn't taken enough off, so we wanted to have it revised since we met our deductible this year, but the pediatrician asked me to wait until he was 2 to have it done, so we were kind of cramped for time.  Fortunately there was a surgeon in the area willing to perform the procedure and we met him that morning.  That evening Byron got off work a couple hours early to help me.  We went to my parents house and I set up hostess trays and such all over the place.  My parents had a great party with a live nativity, Christmas Caroling, and chinese food.  I had such a wonderful time and I loved feeling the Christmas spirit truly come alive inside me.

Christmas Day:  That morning while cleaning my baking mess from the past 2 days and getting ready to make breakfast for my family to come over, my Mommy called me and told me their brand new furnace wasn't working and their house was at a chilly 57 degrees.  We agreed it would be best if they spent the night, and I continued getting ready for them to come over.  With Byron's help we were able to get everything cleaned up and Caleb opened his Christmas presents in time for my famliy to get there.  For breakfast we had a spread of orange juice, hot cocoa, scrambled eggs, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and hash browns. We all ate our fill before everyone spread out to enjoy various activities while my awesome Daddy cleaned my kitchen.  My brother skyped us that afternoon and it was so great that everyone got to see him and talk to him.  He's decided he wants to go to school when he gets home so we might not get to see him as much as we thought after all, but I am so glad.  He'll do so great.  That afternoon my parents left to drop off gifts to a family they had adopted for Christmas.  When my daddy got back, dressed as Santa Claus, he scared half the kids in the house and Charlie had a fit, but I thought it was fun and I heard they had a good time dropping everything off. The elders came for dinner that night and we had a turkey dinner.  I made too much, again, but I was happy to have such yummy food and family all around.  After dinner and giving one of our elders a hair cut, we got everyone settled into bed and tried to sleep.  We had both boys in our bedroom that night, adn Caleb was more difficult than usual to get to bed, but eventually we did sleep, and made sure we got naps the next day.  :)

A Four Day Weekend:  Byron took the two days after Christmas off work so he could spend time with us and Friday was Caleb's surgery.  He wasn't allowed to eat anything after midnight on Thursday so we kept him up late watching a movie and letting him eat if he wanted, cheese and crackers, popcorn, and clementines, before putting him to bed around 10.  He slept until almost 9:30 the next day and we got him ready and out of the house so he wouldn't be reminded of food being around the kitchen.  We took him to petsmart and let him look at all the animals there and contemplated getting a fish tank, but decided to wait.  When we got to the hospital they got him checked in and took him back as soon as they had an empty room.  It was already after noon when they got him in though, and by the time the anesthetic wore off afterwards and they released him, it was already dinner time.  He was so hungry when he woke up, but wasn't allowed to eat solids yet, so he sucked down about 5 little cups of apple juice and cried between each one wanting more food.  I felt so bad, and made sure to feed him crackers as soon as we got home.  He held everything down great and even ate a slice of pizza at dinner, and was running around on Saturday like nothing had happened, aside from falling over a lot since the anesthetic was still in his system.  He seems to be healing up really well though, and we are grateful it was taken care of.  I was called into Primary on Sunday and got the youngest class, the new sunbeams coming in from Nursery and I love it.  I'm so excited about what the year has to bring. :)

He got books from his Aunt Kristen and Uncle Nathan

I was so excited!

A new game! I love this one and am so looking forward to playing it :)

Byron was so excited! He loves this game.  We played 3 times the other day and he still wasn't done hahaha

My cutie pie in his hospital gown

They gave him a penile block so he took a long time waking up.
The nurses felt bad so they let us come back and spend time with him even though he was still sleeping.
